Uganda is ranked 131 compared to the world for their amount of debt. Much of this debt occurs because of the difference in amount of their revenues and their expenses. Agriculture is the most important sector of the work force, employing 80% of the working people in Uganda. The government's budget, which spends billions of dollars toward the military, is one of the causes of Uganda's failing economy. (CIA).
History
The two main rebel groups controlling Uganda were the Lord's Resistance Army and the Allied Democratic Forces. Thousands of children were abducted by both the LRA and the ADF to serve as fighters during the Civil War. Hundreds of people were killed in the rebellion against Uganda's government, and 400 thousand people were left homeless. Local newspaper reports stated that elderly people were being killed with machetes and spears, and babies were being flung against trees. (Pike).
