After occupation of Japan and after WWII, the soviets occupied what is now North Korea.
North Korea's Communist Party was inaugurated in 1946.
South Korea declares independence, starting the invasion from the north, sparking the Korean War.
Famine creates distress and North Korea says it won't follow the armistace made after Korean War. They put troops back in demilitarized zone in 1996.
North Korea Geography:
Is bordered by China to the North and South Korea to the South. To the east is the Sea of Japan and to Northwest is Korea Bay and to the Southwest is Yellow Sea.
Mountainous region in the interior of the country. This area is sparsely populated.
