The Haiti Experience By: Talia Trovato & Ashley Hopes
"Haiti occupies the western third of the island of Hispaniola, between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. Haiti has an area of 10,714 square miles, slightly smaller than Maryland. Its capital and largest city is Port-au-Prince." (Encyclopedia of the Nations)
"After the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 there was a lot of talk on how people could help. One of the iconic things that stood out to me was musicians making music, or dedicating it to Haiti funds and charities. I wrote my own song called "Pledge Peace for Haiti" and worked in close contact with the Clinton Bush Haiti Relief Fund. The proceeds from my song on Itunes and Amazon.com went directly to them. Ifelt that this is what I needed to do to make a difference, and to help those people in need after the disaster that happened to them.Haiti was already a place where living was not simple, and after the earthquake things just worse. To this day they are still trying to recover from all of the events that took place in the past few years, and they work towards giving the people of Haiti a bright future." - Talia Trovato
